I am trying to get everyone's take on music and where it is going. In your best future guess - what do you think music is going to turn into...what genre will get stronger? What is going to drop off? Give me your honest opinion. Shoot it over to cabbott@uconcerts.com Pass the question along. We are trying to find the acts that are the best and in highest demand for all of us here in the valley.

Hip hop--my pick. Hip hop began late 70's? someting like that? New york---now look at it. Hip-hop is the musical outgrowth of urban African-American culture, its popularity is not bound by geography or culture. I think it was quoted this year or last "A trend as big as Texas"
A Banner Year and not slowing down. Well, locally look at ICE CUBE AND SNOOP DOG for instance, a success all the way around. Timbaland would be a great hit to book in SLC. Northeast Hip-Hop--ALL THE WAY. Tyler
Tyler thanks and we love the genre. We are working on some dates and more come to us as the snow starts to melt. Keep in touch and cross your fingers for the big acts!
I think there is a big market for the singer-songwriters. Colbie Caillat (not my pick, but she is very popular here), Death Cab For Cutie, The Format, Duncan Sheik, Howard Jones, Ingrid Michaelson, Sara Bareilles, Billy Joel, The Shins, Guster, REM, U2, Prince, etc. Meaningful lyrics set to music that is more than just loops takes talent and I think people are starting to realize these hidden gems in the music world. When artists write their own music, it means more to them too, so it's a genre that's a win-win situation for everyone. There is passion in the performance and the audiences they are playing to recognize and appreciate it.
road2cairo - thanks and we have done some of the acts that you mentioned. We will keep these in mind as we are setting up the shows.
